At this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show Aplina revealed one of the most important cars they’ve ever built in for of theD3 Bi-Turbo Diesel. Based on the BMW 3 Series sedan and wagon models, the D3 offers the performance of a real Alpina with fuel efficiency of a normal diesel.
The engine powering this all-rounder is a BMW in-line six-cylinder turbo diesel, on which Alpina has implemented some drastic measures to extract more power. Among the changes they’ve made we can mention an Akrapovi? stainless steel, two double-ended tailpipes and a bespoke ECU system.
As a result you get 350 horsepower and 700 Nm, which translates into a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 276 km/h. All the while you can manage very low fuel consumption: 4.9 liter/100 km on the highway, 6 in the city, and 5.3 liters/100 km on the average.
The Alpina D3 Bi-Turbo Diesel also gets the usual dose of exclusive Alpina features, including a subtle body kit – which consists of front and rear spoilers, Kidney grille, Chrome with Black vertical slats, front air inlet with Chrome finisher, special paint job and graphics, and Alpina wheels – and Alpina interior appointments – including floor mats, sport steering wheels, sport pedal set, sport seats, production plaque, and…
The wheels on this car are 19-inch Alpina classic complete with high performance tires and Alpina sport suspension system.
