German tuning firm Startech realized that a simple body kit is not going to do it anymore for the Range Rover Evoque. Everybody’s doing it these days. So for their 2013 IAA lineup they decided to come up with something a little bit different. They have come up with an LPG conversion kit for the car.
LPG conversion is what the owners of old Land Rover and Range Rover models are familiar with. It is one of the most efficient ways to dodge the standard car’s horrendous thirst for petrol. Liquid Petroleum Gas is cheaper than petrol, and it makes less CO2.
These days though, the new Range Rovers are lighter and have frugal engines. So they are lighter on fuel. Plus, the new engines are too complicated for your average mechanic to perform a reliable conversion.
Nevertheless, Startech took on the challenge and made the Evoque’s four-cylinder turbo petrol engine accept LPG as a secondary fuel. And remember we are talking abut a German company here, so rest assured it won’t break down.
Performance figures will be announced at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but expect a considerable loss of power when the car is running on LPG. The Range Rover Evoque by Startech also gets a nice body kit consisting of revised bumpers, flared arches, a roof spoiler, and a special paint job.
