Nissan announced the details of the 2014 Cube, available now in the American market. Prices remain unchanged over the 2013 model, but at $16,760, it still too much to this weird, boxy thing that has the appeal of, well, a cube.
Still, some people may find the unusual looks and proportions of the Cube interesting. After all, the car’s been around for many many years now and they never changed it a bit. The boxy design has its advantages too, such as 58.1 cubic feet of cargo space which is not bad for a car of this size.
In America, the 2014 Nissan Cube comes with a 122-horsepower 1.8-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine and a choice of Nissan’s advanced, smooth shifting Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) or 6-speed manual transmission. The CVT model does 27 mpg city and 31 mpg highway, but it’s a grand more than the manual version.
There are three trim levels of S 6MT, S CVT and SL CVT, with an optional package for the SL model ($18,860) that adds fog lights, Nissan Navigation System with 5.0-inch touch screen, NavTraffic, RearView Monitor, Rockford Fosgate 8-inch subwoofer and amplifier, six upgraded speakers, SiriusXM Satellite, USB and iPod.
