The Volkswagen Polo R WRC is having a jolly good time in the world of rallying, so to celebrate, B&B Autotechnik decided to have some fun with the Street version of it. Here’s a car that’s already tuned at the factory by the same people who have made the rally car. B&B decided it could do with a few more horses.
Now, the standard Polo R WRC Street comes with 220 horsepower from a 2.0 liter TSI engine. So it’s pretty hot already. What B&B does is increase the heat until the car turns red hot. The first stage of tuning deals with stuff like ECU software and air intake, and boosts the power to 310 hp and 450 Nm of torque.
The next stage brings some new exhausts into play and extracts 326 hp and 457 Nm. The final stage of tuning for Volkswagen Polo R WRC Street by B&B includes serious stuff like oil cooler, high performance air cooler, and high performance fuel pump, in addition to the aforementioned upgrades. The output: 362 hp and 510 Nm.
That is absolute madness in a tiny, front-wheel-drive car like the Polo. Sure, they’ve upgraded the chassis and suspension with new coilovers and front and rear axle stabilizers, a set of 18-inch wheels, and even an aero pack, but still, the car will probably be unusable in anything but straight line.
