Lorinser is one of the best known names in the world of Mercedes tuning. Their cars always have a special design. Unfortunately, this specialness does not always mean style and elegance. Take this 2014 Lorinser Mercedes S-Class, revealed at Essen, for instance.
There is no other way round it. It looks rubbish. Apparently, they tried to mix Lorinser signature design cues with the S-Class’ original lines, and the whole thing ended up looking like something out of a badly-made alien movie.
The wavy front spoiler and the new front bumper are joined by an equally controversial front grille to give the front end of the car a completely different look. We just wish it was for the better. On the sides, the lunacy has been tamed a little, although you still get half a side skirt, instead of a full one, to go with the flared arches and the new gills. Round at the back, the bumper design and the diffuser unit mirror the look of the front. That boorlid spoiler is the only ordinary part of Lorinser Mercedes S-Class W222 styling kit.
Lorinser also has an engine tuning program available for the S500 model boosts the output of the V8 engine to 530 horsepower, and thus reduces its 0 to 100 km/h time to around 4.5 seconds, similar to the S63 AMG.
