MINI announced the official MSRP of the new generation Cooper and Cooper S models in the American market, and they both get a slight bump in price. The 2014 MINI Cooper starts from $19,950 (+$250), and the Cooper S from $23,600 (+$300). You also have to pay a destination charge of $795 for each one.

As for the specs, the 2014 MINI Cooper comes with a good amount of kit as standard, including air con, leather, 15-inch wheels, and six-speaker audio system. Power comes from a fuel-efficient 3-cylinder TwinPower BMW engine with 134 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque. Zero to 60 mph is dealt with in 7.3 seconds, and the top speed is 130 mph.

The Cooper S, being the hot hatch of the range, gets a 2.0 liter TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine developing 190 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. Acceleration to 60 mph takes 6.4 seconds, and the top speed is 146 mph. The S also gets larger wheels and bespoke exterior and interior appointments to be distinguished from normal models.

2014 MINI Cooper can be specified with a wide range of high-tech features, including heads-up display, camera-based active cruise control, high beam assist, a rearview camera, plus new safety technologies. But at the end of the say, the main reason for buying this car is the funky looks.
