Kia GT4 Stinger Concept: NAIAS Preview

Kia GT4 Stinger 600x300 at Kia GT4 Stinger Concept: NAIAS Preview

Kia released the first image and details of its Detroit-bound concept car. It is called the GT4 Stinger, and it has very juicy specs. This will definitely be the biggest Korean highlight of the 2014 Detroit Motor Show (NAIAS) – unless Hyundai come up with a new Genesis Coupe.

The Kia GT4 Stinger is a rear-wheel-drive sports car concept that is wide and low. Looks like Kia has the Toyota GT86 in its sights with this one. The engine powering the Stinger, whose main visual feature apart from the low roof and 20-inch wheels is a set of vertical LED headlamps, is a 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit developing 315 horsepower.

The talk of a rear-wheel-drive Kia sports car is nothing new. This time though, they seem more serious about it than ever. I mean, they’ve come up with an actual concept. And that engine – if it wasn’t a production engine they wouldn’t be so explicit about its output.

More details about the Kia GT4 Stinger and the plan behind it will be revealed closer to the opening of 2014 NAIAS. Stay tuned.
