Maserati popped out of nowhere and aired a new commercial for the Ghibli during the 2014 Super Bowl. This ad, we reckon, will be a candidate for the best Super Bowl commercial this year, not because it’s funny or amusing, but because it scares the living hell out of you.

Maserati Super Bowl commercial follows the same recipe that made Hollywood apocalypse/zombie movies so popular. The world is all dark and misty in this ad, and there is a shadowy creature waiting patiently in the dark for the right moment to pounce. That creature is the new Maserati Ghibli.

Maserati has a weird of saying this, but they are actually talking sense. With cars in the luxury sedan segment getting fatter and slower, the Ghibli with its sports car-like agility, fairly light weight, and powerful engines brings a breath of fresh air. Come to think of it, the car does like slightly like a vampire or something, what with those odd headlights and the big grille that are like sharp teeth!
