When it was first introduced, Nissan GT-R was pitched as the performance bargain of the century. But with every new model Nissan kept increasing the price, until we arrive at the 2015 Nissan Nismo GT-R, which costs a whopping $150,000 USD. And that’s before you even add the $1,595 destination charge, or look at the optional extras.
Granted, there aren’t that many 600 horsepower cars with such mind-boggling performance as delivered by the Nissan Nismo GT-R. But still, that kind of money can buy you a very, very fine Aston Martin, or a Ferrari California, or a Porsche GT3 with every single option fitted. Who is going to say no to all those awesome machines and buys what is, at the end of the day, a Nissan?
Still, if you ended up getting a Nissan Nismo GT-R, it’s not like you are going to be disappointed. The car’s insane performance is more than make up for its lack of glamour and refinement. You get a VR38DETT 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 rated at 600 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque, mated to a bespoke transmission and all-wheel-drive system, governed by a super computer. That’s a recipe for speed.
2015 Nissan Nismo GT-R also differs from the normal models in terms of styling and the interior. It features a unique front bumper, engine undercover and carbon rear spoiler, as well as red accenting and new 20-inch wheels. Inside, you get racing-style RECARO seats, cockpit-style instrument panel including a large red-accented center-mounted tachometer and multi-function display – which includes mechanical and driving information, and a specially designed 11-speaker Bose sound system.
