Brabus announced the launch of a series of tailor-made upgrades for the new Mercedes GLA X156 crossover. The treatment is still a work in progress, and includes a couple of visual tweaks and, mainly, new sets of wheels. They help Merc’s baby SUV improve its image. With the Brabus wheels on, the GLA suddenly becomes a car a man can buy!
Brabus offers a wide range of wheels for the Mercedes GLA, including Monoblock F, Q, and S series. They come in different designs and finish, and up to 19-inch in size. Although the optimum wheel size for a small crossover like the GLA would be 18-inch.
Upgrading the power of a car like the Mercedes GLA represents a challenge for tuners like Brabus. They don’t normally do small engines, but that all there is for this model. The GLA share its engine lineup with the A and CLA-Class. They all get an AMG 2.0 liter turbo four-pot with 360 horsepower which is a good start for Brabus, but the rest of the lineup includes small petrol and diesel units not really worth spending time on.
Still, you can expect a lot more from Brabus for the GLA than just a set of fancy wheels. A full package would also include a full body kit, suspension upgrade, power upgrade, beefier brakes, and of course, a luxurious interior treatment.
