Nissan took the wraps off a new model of the Juke crossover at the Geneva Motor Show, revealing a mildly face-lifted version of the existing car. Early teaser images had led us to believe the new Juke will have a more dignified design. But no. In fact, the changes made to the 2015 model’s appearance are scarcely perceptible.
The reason for this lack of change is, according to Nissan, the enormous success of the old model. They shifted 420,000 units of the first-gen Juke during the 40 months it was present in the market. They had a successful recipe and didn’t want to mess it up with a major update.
So the 2015 Nissan Juke gets slightly revised bumpers and lights, plus new side mirrors, wheels, and colors. Still, successful or not, there is not getting away from the fact that this car looks silly. The interior meanwhile, has not changed at all. Nissan has been busier underneath the skin, where the 2015 Juke gets a new downsized 1.2-litre turbocharged unit and a revised 1.6-litre DIG-T engine, plus improved four-wheel-drive system with Torque Vectoring.
2015 Nissan Juke also benefits from enhanced specifications, with the addition of the latest generation NissanConnect driver-vehicle interface, Nissan Safety Shield, Nissan’s Dynamic Control system, plus the option of a new opening glass roof and a new audio system. New Juke will go on sale across Europe in the summer, 2014.
