It seems the rumors about the unveiling of a new Maserati GT concept at the Geneva Motor Show were well-founded, as the first images of the car leak on to the web. The name of this car is Maserati Alfieri, and by the looks of things it is a rival for the likes of Porsche 911 and Jaguar F-Type.

That means Maserati Alfieri is a proper sports car, even though the looks – and the reports regarding its powertrain – suggest it is a full-on super car. The word is the Alfieri is powered by the same turbocharged V8 engine you find in the new Ferrari California.

The new Maser also looks superb. Even in these grainy leaked pictures you can appreciate the lustrous curves and the exquisite design of the front and rear-end. We can drool over this all day long, but we better wait for the official material to be dropped before we do that.
