This year, as you may know, Porsche is making a comeback to the Le Mans 24 Hours with a brand-new race car called the 919 Hybrid after sixteen years. Audi, the reigning champion, has already started playing mind games, sending mixed messages designed to unnerve the rival.
They released this video which, by the looks of things, celebrates Porsche’s return to Le Mans by saying “Welcome Back.” The way they deliver the message though, reveals their true intention.

The short film shows Audi’s R-18 e-tron LMP1 race car racing through streets and public roads, presumably in electric mode, until it arrives at Porsche’s headquarters. There it set about writing the welcome back message in rubber in front of the main building using some well-executed donuts. Apparently, Audi thinks of Porsche’s return to Le Mans as nothing more than a slight inconvenience. Although, if they weren’t worried about Porsche as a proper rival, they wouldn’t have resorted to intimidation!
