Now that their business is going good, and has been for a few years without any major hiccup, MG is going to revitalize their traditional club racing efforts with the launch of a new racing car. This is the MG3 Trophy Championship Concept, unveiled at the MG90 event.
Designed and engineered in-house by MG personnel, MG3 Trophy Championship concept is based on the MG3 production vehicle platform. It’s fitted with a racing aero kit, uprated suspension and brakes, and a powerful engine based on the 1.5T VTi Tech unit which is boosted to 204 bhp and 260 Nm of torque.
What’s more, the MG3 Trophy has gone through a severe diet and shed all unnecessary weight, and given a fully adjustable Macpherson strut front set up with bespoke rear anti roll bar, adjustable front splitter and twin plain adjustable rear spoiler. A limited-slip differential ensures optimum power delivery.
MG3 Trophy Championship Concept is a study for now and is built in order to gauge potential demand for an MG Trophy race vehicle. But it has potential for a one-make racing series.
