More than a decade after the launch of the first-generation XC90, Volvo is finally ready to introduce a replacement it. They took their sweet time over this because it wasn’t an easy job coming up with a worthy successor for what’s considered the best family car in the world.

Truth be told, we’re still not sure they have. This is the 2015 Volvo XC90 and it certainly looks amazing and comes with awesome features. But that’s what raises questions. Have Volvo got their priorities wrong this time? Has the idea of giving the brand a cool new look trumped concerns about practicality and functionality?

Hopefully not. Even though the 2015 Volvo XC90 comes with LED headlights modeled on Thor’s hammer and bling bling rims up to 22-inch in size, its makers promise they have not compromised on space, practicality, luxury, and safety. The new XC90 offers a range of two-litre, four-cylinder Drive-E powertrains, all of which provide an outstanding combination of performance and fuel-efficiency. The safety package too is one of the most comprehensive in this class.
