The MINI Superleggera Vision concept from the previous Villa d’Este show is now on its way to the UK where it will makes debut at this year’s Salon Prive. This is a more appropriate venue to introduce a compact roadster based on a small hatchback. The Americans wouldn’t understand this concept.

This stylish sports car is designed and handcrafted by the Italian coachbuilder Touring Superleggera, the same people who brought you the magnificent Disco Volante. The car follows the same principles established by the original MINI 55 years ago and given a modern twist by BMW, which is minimalistic design and reduction to the essentials.

MINI Superleggera also explores the possibilities of extending the scope of MINI design, but not the way BMW did with the Clubman and Countryman and what have you. The Italians have done it in a more stylish manner with a desirable roadster form and lots of sexy curves and sleek lines.

There have been some rumors flying around about the launch of a production version of MINI Superleggera since it was first introduced, but nothing has been officially confirmed. Still, we are fairly certain Touring will gladly make you one if you come up with a sufficiently fat check!
