Manhart has been working on an upgrade package for the BMW i8 hybrid sports car for the whole year. Now as we get closer to the end of 2014 they seem to be ready to reveal what they have in store for this futuristic machine.

As shown in these preview images, Manhart BMW i8 will get a fairly thorough styling treatment, beginning with painting the elements that are blue on the standard car in gold to go with the black paint job on this particular car. We’re sure they will offer other combinations as well.

Manhart BMW i8 also gets a few slight tweaks here and there, such as revised grilles and air intakes, plus a set of oversized wheels. Now, with cars like the i8 in which every ounce of the weight and every millimeter of the length and width is accounted for in the original design, there is always the concern that large wheels and fat tires may have a negative effect on the performance. That is why we’re hoping Manhart has a power upgrade program as well.

The standard BMW i8 is powered by a 1.5 liter three-cylinder petrol engine boosted by a couple of electric motors for a total of 360 horsepower. If Manhart Racing can get that up to around 450 it’d be awesome!
