So after a lot of testing and fine tuning in the deserts of Oman, the new Aston Martin Lagonda luxury saloon is ready to be launched in the Middle East market where it was specifically developed for. The car has just celebrated its debut in Dubai, where it’s apparently called the Lagonda Taraf.
Don’t let that extra bit at the end of the car’s name fool you though. This is exactly the same as the Aston Martin Lagonda concept we have seen a number of times before, only in a nicer golden color and with slightly revised fascia.
Aston Martin Lagonda is based on the Rapide S and boasts the firm’s VH architecture and the 6.0 liter V12 engine that powers 75 percent of Aston’s range. At first Aston decided to launch the Lagonda only in the middle east, because they thought nobody in America or Europe is going to pay the extra dosh for what is essentially a Rapide S in a fancy suit. Sure, the interior is a bit more luxurious and it may be more refined than its super saloon brother. But you can rest assured the price difference between the two is going to put some big question marks above the value of those qualities.
That said, Aston’s new boss Andy Palmer has confirmed they are witnessing strong interest in the Lagonda all over the world, so much so that they are considering launching a global version.
