Kia has released another teaser for the new concept car they will be unveiling at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show. The Kia Trail’ster e-AWD is quite an important car in spite of the low-profile event it will be revealed at.

The Trail’ster experiments with the idea of and electric all-wheel-drive as a way of making AWD cars more efficient. The car, most likely based on the Soul, is powered by a turbocharged engine, but it features an integrated rear electric all-wheel drive system, which is probably a small electric motor driving the rear wheels.

So in essence, Kia Trail’ster e-AWD is a hybrid. The car also features, in Kia’s own words, bold design and fully retractable canvas roof. So all in all, the Trail’ster seems like a pretty fun car to spend time in. It is, after all, designed for outdoor activities. It is an idea that makes a lot of sense, but don’t hold your breath for a production version any time soon.
