Following the launch of the Sportspace at the Geneva Motor Show, a concept that was supposed to preview the looks of the new 2016 Kia Optima, the Korean car maker has now announced they will be unveiling the real thing next month in New York. Judging by these preview pictures, the thing looks extra groovy.

The Optima is one of Kia’s best-selling models, and it is on sale pretty much in every single car market around the globe. The current generation Optima is also one of the best looking models the Korean automaker has ever produced, and they obviously don’t want to mess with a good thing, as the new one appears to be looking pretty much the same, only a bit exaggerated in places to seem cooler.

So while the shape of the head and taillights, grilles, and body panels remains fairly intact in the 2016 Kia Optima, the car gets larger air intakes in sportier bumpers, more delicate chrome work, and more pronounced aero parts. They give this affordable mid-size saloon the looks of a much more expensive executive sedan, while at the same time stop it from getting boring after a while.

Another highlight of the 2016 Kia Optima, apart from the design, will surely be the amount of kit it gets. Korean cars these days are mad with features and get pretty much everything you find in a Mercedes S-Class. OK, so it doesn’t get as much safety features, but any sort of luxury amenities you can think of, you will find it on the options list here.
