Golf GTI Clubsport Previewed Ahead of Wörthersee

Golf GTI Clubsport 1 600x365 at Golf GTI Clubsport Previewed Ahead of Wörthersee

In the sea of concept cars that turn up each year at Wörthersee for the GTI meeting, the most prominent is always what VW themselves are presenting. After all, this is a celebration of the GTI. This VW Golf GTI Clubsport concept is what they’ve come up with for this year’s event.

Compared to the previous efforts the new Golf GTI Clubsport might seem at first like a bit of letdown. It looks pretty much like a standard GTI with a slightly sportier aero kit and a tiny bit more power. Then again, maybe VW decided to be more realistic this time and show a concept car that has some chance of production instead of putting together a preposterous show car with a W12 engine and no turning capability.

So based on what we can see in the teaser pictures, the Wörthersee-bound Golf GTI Clubsport features a carbon fiber front spoiler and air intakes, side skirts, roof spoiler and rear diffuser. It’s also got sport lowered suspension and large fancy wheels, most likely complemented with a set of Brembo brake discs. Power comes from a 265 hp version of the existing 2.0 liter TSI engine.

Stay tuned for more details on this and other interesting concept cars over the coming days.
