Nissan steps up the whole new car teasing game by releasing a GIF of the 2017 Nissan GT-R back-end, announcing the car’s debut at the upcoming New York Auto Show. The teaser shows the new GT-R’s tail lamps light up and… well, that’s about it.
So despite the sheer GIFness of the teaser, it’s actually pretty useless, especially as the tail lamps it shows us are the same as the existing model. That tells us the 2017 Nissan GT-R is another one of those lightly upgraded model they sell at a greater price than the last year’s model and not at all a whole new version.
There is a whole new GT-R coming, most likely with hybrid power, but it will another two or three years before we hear anything concrete about that car and it will be at a more major motor show where they will release it and not NYIAS. What you can expect from the New York-bound 2017 GT-R is improved aero, enhanced materials and equipment level, a further revised chassis, and maybe a few extra horses. Hardly an exciting proposition, but hey, it’s a recipe that works.
