Europe grew out of shiny chrome trims years ago, but apparently in America they still think it’s cool because GMC has just launched a new edition of the Yukon covered with the stuff. The 2016 GMC Yukon SLT Premium is the Yanks’ idea of a “premium” SUV.
Well, the vehicle does come with a long list of features and equipment, we give it that. But before we get to those, let us count the new chrome bits GMC Yukon SLT Premium comes with. They include unique design 22-inch chrome-wheels, special chrome grille, bright chrome body-side moldings, and polished chrome exhaust tip. You really should wear protective eye gear when approaching this car on sunny days.
As for the good features, GMC Yukon SLT Premium comes with 4G LTE internet and Wi-Fi hotspot for the IntelliLink system, fold-flat second- and third-row seats, power rear liftgate with multiple programmable height settings and hands-free operation, wireless phone charging, 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto phone and keyless entry and go. You also get a forward radar system and the segment’s only Front Center Air Bag.
Powered by a 23-mpg 5.3L V-8 engine, GMC Yukon SLT is capable of towing trailers of up to 8,500-lb. GMC doesn’t much talk about the vehicle’s off-road prowess, probably because there isn’t much to talk about.
