Of all the cars one would expect to ride the Stars Wars hype train it’s the cheap and not at all cheerful Nissan Rouge that takes the candy. Unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show by Stormtroopers, the 2017 Nissan Rouge Star Wars Limited Edition is available as a $1,990 package for the range-topping Sun and Sound Touring Package models.
As for what this package contains, well, there is the unique badges, exclusive interior and exterior trim items and a full-size Death Trooper collectible helmet. In other words nothing really worth your two grand in terms of actually enhancing the driving experience of the car. One gets the feeling the limited (5,400 units) Nissan Rouge Star Wars edition was launched to pay for the elaborate “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” debut show they have made for it.

So here’s a piece of consumer advice: steer clear of this stupid thing unless you are a power geek with a Star Wars fixation, in which case you are probably used to getting ripped off by Lucas and Company, so you can go ahead and get this one too.

“The Nissan Rogue and the first Star Wars standalone movie share more than just a name. The Star Wars film franchise has pushed the boundaries of technology since the debut of the original episode nearly 40 years ago,” said Jeremy Tucker, vice president, Marketing Communications & Media, Nissan North America, Inc. “Nissan is doing the same with its industry-leading cars, trucks and SUVs like the new Rogue – our most advanced Rogue to date – so it’s natural that the two join forces.”
