The exciting new SUV Mitsubishi said a while back they will be unveiling at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show is now revealed further is a couple of teaser shots. They have also revealed its name, which is Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. One would have expected a more imaginative name from the company that has Lancer and Pajero and Gallant in its portfolio, but here we are.

The silly name notwithstanding, Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross seems to be just the thing to reinvigorate the Japanese car maker in the SUV market in which it is one of the oldest hands. The Eclipse, while retaining its Mitsu character in boasting decent off-road capabilities and impeccable quality, will introduce a new and more trendy coupe-like design which, come to think of it, could be why it has an Eclipse in its name. The car will be presented in a special deep gloss red metallic color developed uniquely for it, a color Mitsubishi promises is hella sick.

Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will not replace any of the existing SUVs in the car maker’s lineup but rather joins forces with the ASX and Outlander to gain Japan a bigger share of the lucrative sport utility market.
