The new 2017 Kia Cadenza, one of he best choices in the affordable semi-luxury sedan segment, has been through the safety evaluation by the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and as it turns out it has passed it with flying colors. The Korean car was awarded Top Safety Pick Plus (TSP+).

That is the highest mark one can hope for, although, we have to mention, the TSP+ 2017 Kia Cadenza was equipped with optional front crash prevention and specific headlights. So if you are getting one of these, make sure it is the to-of-the-line, fully-loaded model.

In order to get the Top Safety Pick Plus (TSP+) 2017 Kia Cadenza had to earn “good” rating in five crashworthiness tests including small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side impact, roof strength and head restraints. It also had to earn “advanced” or “superior” rating for front crash prevention and an “acceptable” or “good” headlight rating. To do that the Cadenza relied on Kia’s first application of Smart Blind Spot Detection System, as well as Advanced Smart Cruise Control, a Forward Collision Warning System, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and a Lane Departure Warning System. Again, most of these are optional extras, but you do get the strong foundation with a body structure composed of more than 50 percent Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) as standard.
