Renaultsport, being the motorsport arm of French car manufacturer has unveiled their new rally car based on the Twingo hatchback, coming in two different editions. Twingo Renaultsport R1 and R2 are meant to be modern, affordable and reliable rally cars and will join Clio Renaultsport R3 Access and Maxi. Renault says that these cars offer both day-to-day driveability and first-class performance for the competition.

Twingo Rally is powered by a specifically-prepared 4-cylinder 1.6-litre16V engine which has 160hp (133hp in the R1) and 180 nm (160nm in the R1) of torque, which is coupled to a five-speed sequential transmission with steering-mounted shifters.

But while the R1 model of the Twingo rally is tend to be a cost effective rally-prep’d hot hatch for a wider audience, the R2 kit is more focused and is designed for professionals. Apart from everything, at 27,990€, just for the kit, it is certainly priced like pros! Twingo Renaultsport R2 comes in the form of a motorsport kit featuring all the required parts (except for tyres). Customers who buy the kit will be able to purchase a Twingo Renaultsport 133 at a special price. This solution allows customers to obtain a complete, fully-registered production car into which the kit is built.

Twingo RS Rally R2 is prepared well for the job. It comes with a sophisticated suspension system consisting of McPherson technology, with aluminium lower arms and a standard anti-roll bar at front and deflection torsion beam at the back. All parts can be upgraded and reinforced for specific purposes. It also has 280mm ventilated front discs,240mm solid rear discs and specific pad compound.
