Maybach Zeppelin at Daimler To Kill Off Maybach In 2013

Well, looks like Daimler finally made its mind about Maybach and decided to just get rid of it.

The slow-selling brand never returned the huge investment that was made for it and apart from a few Arabs and a couple of rappers nobody liked it. You see, Maybach’s biggest problem is Rolls Royce Phantom.

The people who spend $400K on a super-lux saloon, more than anything else, want the class and prestige of the car. And while the Roller come with lots of it as standard, the Maybach, to many people, were just a jumped up S-Class.

Now sources inside Mercedes Benz have apparently confirmed to AutoWeek that Maybach will be killed off in 2013.

But Mercedes doesn’t want to let go of the super luxury market and will fill Maybach’s place with the next-gen S-Class, which apparently will be offered n three wheelbase variations and six different body styles, including a top-of-the-range S600 Pullman
