Celebrating the R8’s fifth birthday, Audi has put together a nice tribute video for the car showcasing its 6 different models, and also a sneak peek at the all-new model which will be revealed next year. What started out as a movie car for Will Smith in the I,Robot is now one of the world’s most renowned sports car for its looks, quality and unadulterated driving experience.

The R8 was first introduced as a V8-powered sports car, then it got a V10, then came the Spyder, which again has V8 and V10 variants. More recently Audi also made a GT version of both the coupe and the Spyder. They also made a concept version of the car with a massive V12 diesel, but that never made it into production.

As for the new R8, details are scarce at the moment, but rumor has it the car gets a revised front-end design with very large LED headlights and a new grille. It will launch with an upgraded V8 engine that makes considerably more power, but less emissions. The car will retain its I,Robot shape, obviously, because that is its whole identity.
