The third V8-powered Audi to get its UK pricing today is the new version of the S6. Both sedan and estate variants of the S6 are powered by the 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8, also found in the S7, with 420PS and 550 Nm of torque. Prices start at £53,995 for the sedan and £56,050 for the Avant. This Audi has good excuses for sporting those fat price tags though.

For starters, that new V8 provides amazing performance for this mid-size, mid-range car. The S6 goes from 0 to 62mph in 4.6 seconds and the S6 Avant in 4.7 seconds. Those are fast figures by anyone’s standards. The engine is capable of that performance while managing 29.4mpg in the S6 and 29.1mpg in the S6 Avant. That’s a remarkable achievement.

Like other S-powered Audis, seven-speed S tronic transmission and the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system come as standard. The S6 also gets adaptive air suspension with Sport mode, carbon ceramic brakes (optional) and 19-inch wheels.

Other factor that make it easy justifying that price is the long list of standard and available features.

These include LED headlights, adaptive light, head-up display, the parking system advanced with 360° top view camera, powered rear hatch control including optional hands-free sensor control, a 15-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, MMI navigation plus incorporating the MMI touch input system and Bluetooth phone preparation High with Audi connect enabling in-car internet connection. From the list of driver assistance options customers can also choose the various versions of the Audi pre sense safety system, adaptive cruise control with stop & go function, Audi side assist, active lane assist, the speed limit display and the night vision assistant with highlighting of detected pedestrians.
