Looks like the Toyota GT 86 rally car we told you about a couple of times before is not just bound to compete in the Japanese Rally championship. The racing car’s bigger and more important task is to show decent performance at the next Nurburgring 24 hours race, where it will be pitched against many of its rivals in the market. That explains all the track testings this rally car has been doing during development.

The Nurburgring racer GT 86 will be fielded by Toyota and Gazoo Racing, who also are also behind the car’s future rally career in Japan. There will be two racing 86’s taking on the Green Hell, driven by Masahiko Kageyama, Hisami Sato, Yoshinobu Katsumata, Hiroaki Ishiura, Kazuya Oshima, Takuto Iguchi and Minoru Takaki.

Technical details of the Toyota 86 race car are yet to be revealed, but based on the videos we’ve see so far of it, it seems to be a pretty serious contender.

Gazoo will also bring back the LFA super car to the Nurburgring.
