The 2013 season will mark the return of street cars to NASCAR. Well, sort of. The racing cars will only look like their road-going versions, while underneath they are still full-on monsters. We’ve seen what Toyota, Dodge, and Ford have come up with, now check out Chevrolet’s new Camaro NASCAR racer. It looks kinda funny.

The decision to make NASCAR racers look more like their original road-going versions was made to enhance the sport’s popularity. People are more likely to watch the races if the cars on the track look like the ones they have in the garage and drive everyday.

It resulted in some good-looking new race cars such as the Ford Fusion NASCAR. Chevy’s contender however, is not that much of a looker. But it does look like the real thing, and that is what matters. The bumpers, the headlights and fog lights, the grille and the stripes, they all come straight from the Camaro you can buy from the showrooms.

2013 Daytona race is where the new Camaro makes its debut.
