Lotus To Skip 2012 Paris Motor Show

Lotus Esprit at Lotus To Skip 2012 Paris Motor Show

Two years ago at the 2010 Paris Motor Show Lotus unveiled a bunch of superb concept cars – including new GT cars such as Elan, a new Elise, a modern-day Esprit, and even a city car. Turns out all these cars were just a figment of ex- CEO Dany Bahar’s wild imagination! Now in 2012 not only they haven’t made any headway with these plans, they recently fired Bahar, and are going to skip the Paris show too.

Dany Bahar’s plans for making new and awesome cars were truly great. But instead of thinking of ways to make the cars, he made some moves that didn’t’ make any sense to anyone. He went ahead, for example, and hired Swiss Beatz, who is a hip hop artist, and we all know what kind of taste these guys have when it comes to styling cars. Bahar also signed tuner Mansory to be the brand’s official customizers. Again, Mansory and Lotus are a world apart in terms of philosophy!

Lotus is going through a rough patch, but don’t think for a minute they are dead. They are British and the Brits are used to crisis. Skipping Paris might give them a chance to breath a little, and reorganize and regroup for a powerful comeback.
