Mazda MX-5 GT4 race car is now available to purchase for privateers and teams willing to use it in the 2013 season for domestic and continental GT & GT4 championships. The car began racing in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship, but its success convinced Mazda and their partner Jota Racing they should put it on sale and expand its career.

The MX-5 GT4 is priced at £125,000, which is a lot even by racing cars standards. But then with the road-going MX-5 being such a special car, we cannot imagine how fun it would be driving this racing version on the race track. It might not be a match for the big players in the field – or it might be, we don’t know yet – but you will have plenty of fun for your money.

The 2012 season was pretty much a development season for this car, but even so it scored podium finish on a number of occasions, including Brands Hatch and Snetterton GPs.

The 1,000 kg race car features a 320-hp race-spec engine.
