We felt really sad when Lotus announced they’ve ditched plans to make new super cars, but still, it’s good to see they are back doing what they do best. That is squeezing an already fast car for a little bit more power, a bit more speed. Meet the new Exige V6 Cup. Based on the Lotus Exige S, this car is a track-focused monster with awesome performance.

That is why they offer it in two trims. One is the Track Day version in normal tune for those who want to be entertained, and the other is a full-on Competition-spec model for those who want to be astonished.

Powering the Cup is a supercharged Toyota 3.5 liter V6 developing 350 horsepower. Since at 1080 kg, the Exige weighs next to nothing, that power gives is blistering performance with a 0 to 60 time of 3.8 seconds and top speed of170 mph (275 km/h).

Keeping the Cup in check is Lotus’ sophisticated chassis complemented by multi-adjustable suspension, Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo tyres, and upgraded aerodynamics with optimized front splitter and rear diffuser. Inside the cabin you get a FIA standard roll cage, a fire extinguisher, removable steering wheel and HANS-compliant race seats.

Exige Cup is priced at £62,995 fro the track day and £74,995 for the competition version. In addition to track day fun, this car can be used for competing in Lotus Cup series including Lotus Cup UK, Lotus Cup Europe, Lotus Cup Eastern Europe, Lotus Cup Italy, Lotus Cup Japan, the Lotus Ladies Cup (Hungary) and Lotus Cup USA.
