BMW M6 recall at BMW Stops M5 and M6 Deliveries Due to Oil Pump Issue

BMW AG has stopped all deliveries of 2013 BMW M5 and BMW M6 due to a potential problem with engine oil pump. That’s a shame for a car like BMW, but hey, recalls happen all the time right? The thing is, it’s not just that. They’ve also asked the owners not to drive their cars until further notice. Now that’s just embarrassing.

The problem is that the faulty oil pump can result in a sudden loss of oil pressure, obviously resulting in severe engine damage. Some of the customers have contacted BMW technical service and have been told to stop driving the cars until they come around and pick it up on a flatbed truck. They’ve also been told the fix might take a few weeks.

It’s not clear at the moment if the issue is restricted to American models, or all models sold around the world are affected. We are expecting an official statement by BMW soon. Until then you better leave your brand-new M car in the garage.
