Chevrolet has been dominating the world touring car championship for the past three years with its Cruze. They just secured their third consecutive manufacturers’ title after showing a flawless performance at Suzuka, taking another 1-2-3 win in Race 1.

With four Cruzes topping the qualifying session ahead of the race, Chevrolet achieved enough points to become unreachable for other teams at the top of the rankings. But they went ahead and locked out the podium in the race as well for good measure to celebrate this victory in style.

The Chevrolet hat-trick on the podium in Race 1 was complemented by Alex MacDowall, who came in 5thoverall but claimed top spot among the independent racers at the wheel of a Bamboo Engineering Cruze.

With the manufacturers’ title now bagged, Chevy needs to focus on winning the Driver’s title. Actually, they don’t, because Chevrolet drivers are  the sole contenders for the title. So other teams might as well not bother turning up for the final two rounds of the 2012 WTCC season in China and Macau.
