The standard Mitsubishi i-MiEV is an ugly and stupid electric car. But put two – or rather three – of them together, and it becomes an awesome race car capable tackling the toughest forms of motorsport, namely Pikes Peak hill climb. The performance of this electric race car boggles the mind, but then it has three electric motors.

In this video Autocar’s Matt Saunders get behind the wheel of the i-MiEV racer to experience its thrill first-hand. Some say the electric motors in the i-MiEV will be used in the next generation Lancer Evo along with a petrol engine. Yep, that’s make it a hybrid.
