Some guys at Hot Wheels apparently had a few drinks one night and decided to make a real-life, fully-functioning dragster based on a 1959 BMW Isetta bubble car. And they did it, and now you can have it as it is going under the hammer at an RM Auctions event on February 16.
The Isetta Dragster is still a three-wheeler, but where you’d normally find the rear wheel there is a big block supercharged Chevrolet V8 engine developing an estimated 730 horsepower. Obviously, the only intact Isetta part in this car is the body shell. Everything else is either fabricated for it, or taken from an existing car.
The suspension for example comes from the BMW M3, it has dual circuit disc brake system, single rear wheel is a custom 18 inch by13 inch drag racing wheel with a Sumitomo HTRZ II tire. Our favorite part of the car is the giant rear spoiler. It looks business, but we’re not sure it can keep this little bubble on the ground once those 700 horses are unleashed.
Nicknamed ‘Whatta Drag’, the car is expected to fetch up to 100 grand.
