Mercedes and AMG have already confirmed the launch of a brand-new sports car which they have named, rather unimaginatively, the Mercedes AMG GT. Now they have announced an official teasing campaign for the car, building up some hype for its debut in autumn 2014.

Over the next few months Mercedes-Benz will gradually reveal more facts about the car, beginning with its innovative new features, and continuing with dynamics, performance, and finally the design. Mercedes AMG GT is said to be one of the best-looking cars the German auto maker has ever built. Mercedes has already revealed the interior of the AMG GT, and if that’s anything to go by, the car itself will look pretty sick!

What do we know about the AMG GT so far: the new AMG sports car is lighter, smaller, and more affordable than the SLS AMG which it replaces. All evidence point to the fact the AMG GT is a proper sports car; a Porsche 911 rival, if you will.

We also know the car will come with a brand-new 4.0 liter V8 engine mated to a dual-clutch transmission that drives the rear wheels via a trick differential. It will make around 500 horsepower in normal tune, and close to 600 in the Black Series version which will follow in about a year or so. It also sounds pretty awesome judging by the adjacent teaser video. A convertible version of the Mercedes AMG GT might never happen. Oh, and it doesn’t have gullwing doors.
