Range Rover released today a mysterious teaser showing bits of the Nurburgring track accompanied by some seriously delicious V8 noise. All the evidence point to one thing: the go-fast Range Rover Sport RS is coming, and it’s finally going to give the ‘Sport’ in the car’s name some appropriacy.

The Range Rover Sport RS, then, will probably be the first car created by the elite Special Operations Division launched recently to help JLR make cooler cars. The RS will rival super SUVs such as Porsche Cayenne Turbo, Mercedes ML63 AMG, and the upcoming Maserati SUV.

Range Rover Sport RS will be powered by the same 5.0 liter supercharged V8 engine that powers the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe with 550 horsepower. It is said to take the hefty SUV from rest to 60 mph in under 5 seconds. The RS will also get sportier suspension and beefier brakes, as well as an aero kit to make it distinguishable over the normal models.

RRSRS may make a guest appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this month.
