Mercedes S65 AMG Coupe Revealed with 630-hp

Not that the world needs a super luxurious V12-powered coupe right now, but AMG went ahead and launched it anyway. And we’re mighty glad they did, because it means that in spite of all the pressure, they are going to keep the horsepower flame burning. Even if they look silly doing it.

The 2015 Mercedes S65 AMG Coupe looks pretty much the same as the S63 Coupe minus a couple of touches here and there, such as more elegant grilles and slightly revised aprons. But where the S63 gets a 585 hp twin-turbo V8, the S65 has a titanic 6.0 liter V12, also with two turbos, punching a colossal 630 horsepower and 1,000 (limited) Nm of torque. That power translates into a 0 to 100 km/h time of 4.1 seconds, but the top speed is as usual limited… to 300 km/h!

As you’d expect from a top of the line German coupe, Mercedes S65 AMG Coupe is fully loaded with all the new technology, safety, and convenience features. The V12 monster comes exclusively with multi-spoke design wheels, size 8.5 x 20 at the front and 9.5 x 20 at the rear, with 255/40 R 20 and 285/35 R 20 tires. Ceramic high- performance compound brake system is optional.

Standard equipment for the S65 AMG Coupe includes 360° camera, Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC, Burmester high-end 3D surround sound system,  Driving Assistance package Plus, including DISTRONIC PLUS with Steering Assist, PRE-SAFE® Brake, BAS PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist and PRE-SAFE® PLUS, Upholstery in AMG Exclusive nappa leather, and KEYLESS-GO package. The most prominent tech features include MAGIC BODY CONTROL with curve tilting function and ROAD SURFACE SCAN.

Mercedes S65 AMG Coupe will go on sale in Europe toward the end of the year, starting from 245,000 Euro.
