Following a couple of fairly interesting teasers, Renault can now show us their brand-new racing machine, called the Renaultsport RS01. This unique competition car is designed and developed for a new one-make racing series the French automaker is planning to launch.

Renaultsport RS01 will be the star of its own show in Renaultsport Trophy championship in the World Series by Renault from next year. The car has superb specs for a one-make series though, including a carbon monocoque chassis with LMP1 2014 standards and a 500 horsepower engine.

That carbon monocoque means the RS01 is extremely light at around 1,100 kg, and that 500 hp 3.8 litre V6 twin-turbo engine means it is pretty fast – top speed over 300 kph. All of that together means this is a very serious race car, guaranteed to attracted a lot of interest in the new series.
