A lot of people found the new Mercedes-Maybach S600 a bit disappointing when they first laid eyes on it, as it looked just like any other S-Class. And that is not cool in a car carrying the Maybach badge and costing nearly $200K.
Those guys may change their mind when have a close look at the Mercedes-Maybach S600 in this new gallery the German automaker just released. Looking at these photos we notice some subtle differences between the Maybach S600 and the normal S-Class saloon, such as exclusive rims and grilles, as well as unique badging.
The similarities between the Mercedes-Maybach S600 and the run of the mill S-Class are intentional. Mercedes-Benz had an awful experience with the previous Maybach which was basically a huge money pit and caused the company a good deal of embarrassment. So it is natural for them to play it safe this time around. Also, if they’d made the new Maybach more exclusive, it’d cost a lot more than it does now and nobody would buy it.
The new Maybach S600 will launch with a V12 engine from the normal S600, but later on weaker engines will also be offered, maybe even a hybrid variant. The car will launch in America next week.
