Granted, these photos are showing the new 2016 BMW M6 GTLM on the race track. But this is just a test at Sebring back in October. The car’s official track debut will take place at Daytona International Speedway on November 17-18 during the IMSA test.

BMW Team RLL will head the company’s North American racing campaign two BMW M6 GTLM race cars in the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The car’s counterpart for global competition is the M6 GT3 which was present at Sebring during the initial testing.

The promising Sebring test provided an opportunity for 2015 season drivers Bill Auberlen, Dirk Werner and John Edwards, veterans of the Z4 GTLM campaign, along with 2014 GTLM driver champion Kuno Wittmer, to get to grips with the new race car which, if anything, even more handsome than the Z4 we’ve enjoyed immensely watching at IMSA.

As the third BMW model campaigned RLL, BMW M6 GTLM is expected to continue the success of its predecessors, BMW M3 and then the Z4, which together have scored a total of  57 podiums, including 13 wins. The team finished second in last year’s GTLM class Manufacturer, Team and Drivers championships.
