Mercedes-Benz UK released the official pricing of the new generation Mercedes SL for the British market. The luxury roadster launches with four engines, including the SL 400 V6, the SL 500 V8, the SL63 AMG V8 and the SL65 AMG V12.
The base model, which is the one that makes the most sense, is the Mercedes SL 400 powered by 4.0-litre V6 engine developing 367 horsepower, enabling a 0 to 60 mph time of 4.9 seconds, commanding a base price of £73,805. But most people are going to get the SL 500 with a 4.6-litre V8 punching 455 hp and a 0 to 60 time of 4.3 seconds for £82,850.
Standard features on both SL 400 and SL 500 include 9G-TRONIC PLUS automatic gearbox, Apple CarPlay™; LED Intelligent Light System with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus; Parking Pilot; COMAND Online; DYNAMIC SELECT; 18-inch alloys (design dependent on model); MAGIC VISION CONTROL; Attention Assist; Active Brake Assist; and Active Bonnet safety feature.
As for the SL63 and SL65, the former gets a 585 hp V8 while the latter packs a 630 hp V12. The 63 runs for £114,100 and the 65 for a whopping £173, 295. The highlights include AMG high performance composite braking system; AMG DYNAMIC SELECT; AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather; AMG Sports Exhaust System; AMG sports suspension; ‘V8 BITURBO’ lettering on the front wings, and ‘V12 BITURBO’ for SL 65.
