Driving instructors from BMW Performance Center will embark today (April 30th) on a 7 Day, 2,827 mile journey that will take them across the United States in the 2016 One Lap of America rally. The car they’ve picked for this epic land voyage is a BMW M2 M Performance.

The 2016 One Lap of America, starting at South Bend, Indiana, is not just a long drive with no excitement along the way. The vent will include everything from Time Trials, to Drag Racing, Skid pad Car Control, and maybe a fair few unsanctioned road racings.

Completing the event will not only serves as good publicity for BMW Performance Center and the services they offer (such as Teen Driving School, Car Control School, M School, and Advanced M School), it also shines a bright light on the new M2 which has just gone on sale expecting to become the new performance benchmark in the sports coupe segment.

The BMW M2 entered in 2016 One Lap of America is mechanically identical to stock models, with a 365 bhp and 343 lb-ft of torque (369 lb-ft in overboost mode) straight-six turbo engine, but it features the M Performance kit consisting of carbon fiber front and rear spoilers, carbon fiber rear diffuser, M Performance coil-over suspension and sport exhaust system, as well as Active M Rear Differential.
