In a clear attempt to regain some of lost glory of the olden days when they made nothing but cool and funky cars, Citroen has come up with a new version of the C3 which is unlike anything else you’ve seen in this segment. The new Citroen C3 looks fresh and bold and really funky, but we’re afraid they may have gotten a bit carried away with it.

The old funky Citroens all had a certain elegance and charm that marked them aside from the regular Euro boxes of the day. The new C3 doesn’t. It has got the funky part down really well but there is no trace of elegance in it. The result is a car that suits people only between the ages of 16 and 18, preferably female. If you are older than that and drive a 2017 Citroen C3 you’ll look spectacularly ridiculous.

The keyword in the design of the new Citroen C3 is customizability. The car maker has apparently surveyed young people and found they are very fond of their smartphones. So they decided to make a smart car… of sorts. You can customize the look of your C3 the way you can choose the cover of your phone. There’s an on-board HD camera that allows drivers to share their road-trip photos and videos directly with friends and family. And you even get Citroen’s Airbump panels on the outside which are like a bumper for an iPhone and protect the car against bumps and scratches.

The C3 comes with a tone of two-tone paint options as well as three color options for the roof and you also can choose the color of fog lights, door mirrors, rear quarter panels and Airbump panels. The spacious and comfy interior with its panoramic sunroof and keyless entry and start can be customized with four different colors. As for the powertrain, the least important part of the car, it can be had with a range of PureTech petrol and BlueHDi Diesel engines, and the latest generation EAT6 fully automatic gearbox.
