Having just realized that most people these days prefer a comfortable ride to sporty handling and sharp acceleration, Citroen is going back to their roots and working on a system that promises a cushion-soft ride through a new series of technologies. They call it the Citroen Advanced Comfort Program and have come up with a concept which serves as the “lab” for testing these technologies.

The ultimate goal of Citroen Advanced Comfort Program and its C4 Picasso mobile lab is to filter out any bumps in the road, any vibration, and any unwanted noise that would compromise the ride comfort and basically simplify driving to reduce the driver’s stress. This is not something new for the company, of course, as fifty or so years ago they came up with an ingenious hydraulic suspension system that remain pretty much unrivaled in terms of comfort even to this day. The new system works based on the same principles.

The progressive hydraulic cushion suspension system which is the core of Citroen Advanced Comfort Program – featuring vertical rear shock absorbers and raised suspension arm joints – works in tandem with new seat technologies, improved body rigidity and acoustics to provide lounge-like comfort in the cabin. It’s a thorough and studied approach to comfort, so every little detail – like enough storage compartments, easy to use connectivity, parking assist, and… – has been taken into account here.

We love the idea of an extremely comfortable car like this as our daily driver because that’s what you want when you’re heading back home after a long day at work. Sporty suspension and loud exhaust are for the weekends and special occasions. It’s just common sense.
