Paris Motor Show next month is going to be chock full of new production models, including this one, the fourth-generation Kia Rio. Shown here is a series of official sketches, the new Rio continues the tradition of its ancestors in terms of being a cheap and cheerful family car, but also conforms to Kia’s modern values in terms of design and quality.

What emerges from the combination is a car you can’t really love and get interesting in, but at the same time you can’t hate it, either. Kia Rio has always had a certain blandness which we think is there by design. This is a car designed and built for people who have no interest in the motor vehicle and just want something cheap and comfy to get them to work in the morning and bring them back home in the evening. And that’s perfectly fine.

Kia mentions “Straight lines and smooth surfaces” as the defining features of the new Rio’s design, while promises a bolder look thanks to “longer front overhang and bonnet, longer wheelbase, and upright C-pillar.” Customers will also enjoy a long list of features which will include the latest comfort, convenience, connectivity and safety features. So all the evidence suggest that the fourth-gen Kia Rio will continue the sales success of its predecessor and add beat its predecessor’s record of 473,000 vehicles sold in 2015.
